Japanese Star Actress, Nanako Matsushima and GTO
This is the first post of Japanese Actors/Actress and that would cover one of my favorite and very talented Japanese actresses of all time – Nanako Matsushima. She was entitled with the Best Actress Award several times on the Television Academy Awards in Japan which was held annually. The first time was in the year 1999, and later she made it onstage again in the 2000, 2002 and 2003.
Nanako Matsuchima was born on October, 1973 in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. She is a Libra with blood type A. On February 21, 2001, she married a Japanese actor, Takashi Sorimachi and they were blessed with two daughters; one was born on May 31, 2004 and another one on November 30, 2007. In the year 2006, she has been came up first in the nomination of the most beautiful mother in Japan at the age of 33, followed closely behind by Hitomi Kuroki (46). Her hobbies include watercolor paintings, calligraphy, cooking, and playing the piano.
Nanako Matsushima – Brief Career Profile
Most beautiful japanese girls in the early 90’s started off as a campaign girl, or swimwear poster girls for a Japanese corporation. That’s pretty much the same thing that has happened to Nanako Matsushima too. She was a beautiful girl, clad in multiple designs of swimwear and posing for a poster under the company Asahi Kasei. Her career saw a big kickstart when she was offered a TV debut in a low rate TV drama a few years after her first debut. In 1996, she had her shot after auditioning for and got the lead character in a NHK morning drama series Himawari, and ever since she started getting good and potential roles in TV dramas one after another. So does the offers for TV commercials as such.
Her first biggest hit was probably when she starred in a popular comic based drama – Great Teacher Onizuka (1998), starring alongside a rising actor who later became her husband, Takashi Sorimachi. And since then, she had become one of the highest-paid actress in Japan, starring in high rating TV dramas one after another such as in Yamato Nadeshiko, Majou no Jouken, Bijou ka Yajuu and Toshiie to Matsu. Her global debut was probably by starring as the lead actress in a popular Asian horror flick Ringu (The Ring) in 1998. But that’s where so far things go. She had never debuted in any multinational movies though. Overall, Nanako Matsushima has acted in a total of 25 drama series, 8 movies, and one of the top faces of several commercials (even until now) such as Kose Sekkisei, Sumitomo Seimei, Kirin Green Tea and Maxfactor Japan.
However, my most favorite show of hers was actually ‘Majou No Jouken’, also known as ‘Condition of the Witch’ or ‘Innocent Witch’. In the drama, which she acted alongside Hideaki Takizawa, an idol and teen hearthrob, she was a innocent teacher who falls madly in love with her student who also loved her dearly, and had to face many obstacles in their effort to be together. It was a very touching drama. If you’re thinking of watching it, just get lots of tissue ready nearby. Yeah, I was that soft-hearted ^0^.

(Love it?)
